[Home] [Men's Basketball] [Women's Basketball] [Baseball] [Softball] Chattanooga State Lady Tiger Softball Team 2006 Season Outlook What is it like to be the hunted? Step into the shoes of Beth Keylon-Randolph and her Lady Tigers. Year after year rivals in the TJCCAA softball league say that "this will finally be the year that the Lady Tigers will be sent packing." And packing they will, all the way to the National tournament where this year looks to be the year for a softball national championship. Coach Randolph has masterfully recruited a team that blends speed, power and defense in the never ending pursuit of that elusive national championship win. All star Melissa Hendon one of three returning players is the lead pitcher. After and injury plagued first year, Sarah Warren returns in good health and new recruits, Tiffany Walker from Grace Academy and Central High stand out Kala Cooper round out the pitching staff. Catchers Jesslyn Stanley from Vidalia, Georgia teams with Jessica Lackey (Ringgold High) and Emily Barker (Sequatchie County) to give the Lady Tigers a formidable catching staff. The infield is led by NJCAA All America power-hitter India Turner. New recruits include defensive standout Christina Haskew (Eastridge), power-hitting short stop Dana Kirtley (Ooltewah High), second base ABAC transfer, Nicole Lyons, and at first base Brittany Kopcsak from State Champion Red Bank High. The outfield features speed and aggressiveness. Speedster, Boo Leftwich (Tyner Academy), international experienced Megan Blake (Australia) and ABAC transfer Mallory Simmons combine competitiveness and tenacity to go along with the "new look" Lady Tigers. Local stars Mandy Matthews (Marion County) and Vicki McCoy (Ringgold High) provide the depth necessary for a 60 game season, while Lauren McCall former track standout brings her athleticism and softball abilities to the outfield. Assisted by Dennis Waters and former Lady Tiger star Bryn Favor, this will be the year that Coach Randolph and her Lady Tigers "survive the hunt" and come home packing that national championship! |
