Tiger Basketball Coach

Head Coach

Jay Price

Jay Price begins his fifth season as the Tigers Head Men's Basketball Coach and brings a unique blend of a playing background, coaching expertise and a personable coaching style that is unique to the community college athletic experience.

After a stellar interscholastic experience at Brainerd High School from 1986-1988, Price signed and starred at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for the next four years.  During that time, he forged many relationships with current and former NBA players.  After completing a four-year stint playing professional basketball overseas, Coach Price honed his coaching skills by directing a tour team for 10 years.  Prior to taking the job at Chattanooga State, he coached at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga where he was Assistant Men's Coach and Head Women's Coach for six years.

In his inaugural season at Chattanooga State, the 2004-2005 Tigers fast came to understand that Coach Price not only knew the game of basketball but had a special way in which to impart his knowledge.  Still able to play at a high level, Price was able to demonstrate and teach the "right way to play."  His "take an interest in each player attitude" allowed each player to reach their potential.  His no-none sense disciplined approach to the way the game of basketball should be played propelled the Tigers to the Region VII semi final appearance.

The ability of Coach Price to relate to each student athlete is influenced by his understanding attitude.  In addition he calls on his many relationship experiences as a business owner, YMCA Director of Programs/Sports and Director of Public Relations/Marketing for Allan Houston Enterprises to further succeed in helping each one of his players reach their potential

By placing the well being of each student athlete at the forefront of the Tiger basketball program, Coach Price will continue to exemplify the philosophy of Chattanooga State athletics.

Price and his wife, Angela, have three daughters; seven-year-old Jala, three-year-old Kennedy, and one-month-old Alexis.

Assistant Coach

Keitha Booker

Coach Booker begins his 8th season as the Tigers' Men's Assistant Basketball Coach and in his 2nd season with Head Coach, Jay Price.  Coach Booker has a degree in Exercise Science and Leisure Studies and brings expertise in recruiting and overall knowledge of the game.

Keitha played his high school basketball at Franklin High School from 1990-93.  After a stellar career there he signed a scholarship to play at Chattanooga State from 1993-95.  After playing an important part of two very good Tiger teams, he began to coach as a student-assistant while finishing his degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Coach Booker has worn many hats as an assistant coach at Chattanooga State and most importantly has been a major part of 5 20+ win seasons here.  He was part of the best team in Chattanooga State history, the 200-01 team, that posted a 27-4 record.  He also was briefly an assistant for the Women's team (2000-2003) and was part of the 2001-02 Women's team that won the Region and went to the NJCAA National Tournament where they placed 4th in the nation.

He still enjoys playing the game at a high level and brings this desire to the court in a "teaching manner".  Both he and Coach Price feel it imperative to teach the game the "right way".  They encourage their players to be all that they can be while pushing them and teaching them the skills on and off of the court that they will need to succeed at higher levels.

Coach Booker has an ten-year-old daughter named Sydney Alexus Snyder.
