UNBELIEVABLE!  That is the only way to describe the 2007 Chattanooga State baseball season.  Here is a small listing of the various things that happened this past spring:
  1. The Tigers won their FIRST Conference Title with a 25-5 record.
  2. The Tigers won their first ever REGION Title with a victory over Vol. State 6-2.
  3. The Tigers won a school record 52 games overall.
  4. The Tigers achieved a NJCAA #1 Ranking nationally and held it for 3 weeks.
  5. The Tigers finished the season with a #3 NJCAA National Ranking
  6. The Tigers finished 1 game away from the JUCO World Series.
  7. Thomas Gray won 14 games and achieved 1st Team All America status.
  8. Drew Bowlin was selected by the SF Giants in the 23rd round and signed.

When you put all of these things together with SO much more, you see why there is much excitement at the College on the River about baseball.  Coach Greg Dennis begins his 5th season at Chatt State and after winning his 500th career game last season, embarks on even more success' in the future. He and 3rd year Assistant Coach, Robert Long, return a very formidable crew of sophomores to further their program.  All Conference players such as:  RHP Coty Green, OF/C Beau Geren and SS Heath Cheverton return as well as 2B Scotty Guest, 1B Kendal Wells, RHP Lee Henry and OF Pat Jones.  These guys form the nucleus for what promises to be another eventful season.

It doesn't just end there though, for the Tigers have brought in a talented and athletic recruiting class to go with these returnees.  Decorated North Georgia players such as:  Dane Anderson ( Gordon Lee HS ), Garret Burgess ( NW Whitfield HS ), Jordan Dean ( Dalton HS ), Blake Hixson ( Ridgeland HS ), Zeke Owen ( Adairsville HS ) and Dexter Scudgins ( LFO HS ) are being looked at to help carry the load.  From around the region here in Tennessee there is:  Ryan Coburn ( Ooltewah HS ), Corey Davidson ( All State Bradley Central HS ), Zach Driggers ( All State Walker Valley HS ), John Howard ( Ooltewah HS ), Aaron Short ( Cleveland HS ) and Ryan Williams ( Ooltewah HS ).  These guys make up another highly decorated class and one that Coaches Dennis and Long think will have an enormous impact for years to come.

Please feel free to come out and enjoy the next chapter of Tigers Baseball in '07-'08!!
