Clinical faculty members have a special place in the success of Chattanooga State’s PTA Program. There are several
rights and privileges that are common to all other similar clinical education faculty members in the institution.
These would include such things as access to the library (http://library.chattanoogastate.edu/) and access to students
for distribution of job placement/recruitment information. There are some privileges that are specific to PTA clinical
instructors.
These include:
Participation in an annual development activity jointly conducted with University of Tennessee, Chattanooga
PT Program for a “Lunch and Learn” type program. Lunch is provided and a 1.5 contact hour program is provided at
no charge for all PTA clinical faculty or those who expect to be clinical faculty. Topics are related to identified
development needs and the contact hours help meet the continuing education requirement for re-licensure in Tennessee.
Participation in our yearly CI Luncheon/Advisory Committee Meeting. This involves a meeting held on Chattanooga
State campus in May where lunch is provided. A speaker of interest is provided for a brief topic. Program update
is provided and a “Clinical Instructor of the Year” award is given to a CI. Determination of this award is by
nomination from students, academic clinical faculty, and the ACCE. Recognition is given to a CI who had demonstrated
exceptional efforts on behalf of clinical education with our students during the previous year.
Use of faculty/college for resource information such as the process for acquiring a Tennessee license, mailing
address of licensing board, web address of licensing board, Licensure verification web site for Tennessee
(www.health.state.tn.us/licensure), contact information with the Tennessee PT Association (www.tptaonline.org) , APTA
information (www.apta.org), etc. Faculty members frequently receive calls related to practice situations with
requests for recommendations on where to locate answers or resources.
