The Testing Center provides test administration and proctoring for Chattanooga State students and distance learners, placement testing as well as an official GED Testing site for this region.
This test is given to prospective students under 21 years of age who have enrolled at Chattanooga State. The scores from this test are not transferable to other universities and colleges. The residual test consists of 4 parts: English, Math, Reading and Science.

The Testing Center administers several different career interest tests based on recommendations from your advisors and counselors in the Career Planning area.
CLEP tests are used to grant credit for college level courses. Go to http://clep.collegeboard.org for information on courses available. Then print a copy of the CLEP registration form off this website and bring or mail to the testing center. An appointment to take the test will then be set up.
This placement exam is required for all students 21 years of age or older who do not have transfer credit in college English or Mathematics after you are admitted to Chattanooga State.

GED tests are a group of five subject tests ("Language Arts: Writing", "Social Studies", "Science", "Language Arts: Reading", and "Mathematics".) which, when passed, certify that the taker has American high-school level academic skills. The American Council on Education is the sole developer for the GED test. The test is in person. The State of Tennessee awards a "Certificate of General Educational Development" to persons who meet the passing score requirements. Only individuals who have not earned a high school diploma may take the GED tests.

TEAS is the exam given for entrance into the following programs: Dental Hygiene, Health Information Mgt, LPN to RN transition, Paramedic to RN transition, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Registered Nursing, Respiratory Care and Veterinary Technology. The test consists of 85 scored multiple‐choice questions divided into two subsections: Mathematics and Reading. The test used is Version 5 Form A and we do not give the Science and English sections of the TEAS.

Chattanooga State offers the TOEFL iBT test to individuals who would like to pursue their studies here at Chattanooga State. We give the paper-based test. The TOEFL iBT test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.
