Career Counseling

Internet Career Help

The Career Planning and Counseling Center provides services to help students decide on a college major at Chattanooga State.  The Center also assists people in the community who are changing careers, retraining, or are making the decision to come to college for the first time.

Career counseling is a free service offered to Chattanooga State students and to members of the community.  The process begins with a career information session.  These sessions are offered four times a week throughout the year.  These small group sessions provide a great starting point in exploring your career options.  Find out about services available including career inventories, the career library, computer-based guidance programs and other resources.  Call to schedule an appointment (697-4421).

Career Information Sessions
Mondays                      4:15 p.m.
Tuesdays                      8:30 a.m.
Wednesdays                 2:30 p.m.
Thursdays                    11:00 a.m.

Inventories are available to help you find out more about yourself so that you can make an informed decision about career options.  Inventories can provide information about your personality, interests and abilities.  Inventory interpretation sessions are scheduled with a counselor to discuss the results of all inventories taken by clients of the Career Planning and Counseling Center.  Results are not discussed by phone nor mailed without interpretation.  Group sessions provide interpretations of career interest inventories.  You may call to schedule an appointment when your test results are complete.

The Career and Life Planning Library is located in the Career Planning and Counseling Center, Room 244 in the Student Center.  It includes information on careers, jobs, job trends, job descriptions, job search, salaries, non-traditional careers, and adults re-entering the workforce.
