Rodney Jones


Rodney Jones teaches at Southern Illinois University and received his MFA from UNC-Greensboro. He is the author of seven books of poetry: The Story They Told Us of Light, The Unborn, Transparent Gestures, Apocalyptic Narrative, Things That Happen Once, Elegy for the Southern Drawl, and The Kingdom of the Instant. He is a winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Jean Stein Award of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, Southeastern Booksellers Association Award, and the 1989 National Book Critics Circle Award. received the for poetry in 1999. Jones's poems have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, the Georgia Review, the Southern Review, Pushcart Anthology, and other periodicals, and in five annual editions of The Best American Poetry.
