Clifton Cleaveland
Clif Cleaveland, MD, MACP, has written Sacred Space and the newly published Healers and Heroes: Ordinary People in Extraordinary Times. He grew up in LaGrange, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina. Following graduation from Duke University he attended Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar, receiving a master of arts degree in animal physiology. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University before serving his internship and medical residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital. After Army service at Fort Knox and a fellowship in clinical pharmacology at Vanderbilt, he began medical practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He and his wife, Ruzha, have four children and two grandchildren.
