Submissions
Anyone interested in submitting prose manuscripts should send three (3) copies of up to twelve (12) pages of prose in collated packets. Anyone interested in submitting poetry manuscripts should send three (3) copies of up to three (3) poems in collated packets. Mail all submissions to
Prof. Richard Jackson
English Dept. 2703
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
Chattanooga, TN 37403
Prose or poetry submissions may also be hand delivered to the UTC English Department Office, Holt 203, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All questions regarding submissions should be directed to Dr. Richard Jackson.
The first poem in each packet will be the one discussed in the conference-workshop, so make sure that is the topmost poem; in prose, the individual reader may focus on a theme such as beginning, scene, point of view, etc. so that only a small portion of the piece may be up for discussion.
Be sure to include your name, phone number, and e-mail address with your submission. If you are a student at a local school, please also include your school affiliation.
The deadline for submissions to the Spring 2008 workshop is February 15th.
This program will, at the suggestion of a number of participants, try a series of small conference-workshops in place of the larger workshops and the individual conferences. Our post-reading parties and gatherings (places TBA) will provide ample opportunity to talk with the visiting writers. The staff are picked for their willingness to spend time with aspiring writers as well as their credentials as writers. They will be available for lunch and coffee throughout the conference; all one needs to do is introduce him or herself and set a time to talk, or simply introduce yourself at one of the post-reading gatherings or the Saturday evening supper.
For more information, contact Richard Jackson or one of the other Workshop Coordinators.
