Physical Sciences

The sciences are a great place to look for a career. Many of the fastest growing jobs in America are science related.  A science degree is a ticket to an extraordinarily varied and exciting range of career options. If you have a curiosity about the world and how things work, enjoy tackling and solving problems, and are able to think outside the box then you should consider a career in a science related field. The Department of Natural Sciences is prepared to get you off to a great start.

Chattanooga State’s Department of Physical Sciences is a part of the Division of Mathematics and Science.  The department is located in the Albright Omniplex.  Highly qualified faculty teach in lecture rooms equipped with state of the art digital presentation equipment. Eleven modern laboratory classrooms offer opportunities for hands on learning. A Math/Science computer lab is available for student use.

The department offers a full compliment of freshman and sophomore level science courses in both the biological and physical sciences. Students majoring in the sciences can take all the appropriate courses at Chattanooga State and receive an associates degree (A.S. or A.A.) before transferring to a four year institution to complete the bachelors degree. Science courses that support pre-professional programs such as Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dental, and Pre-Veterinary are also regularly offered.

Students in Chattanooga State’s career programs such as Nursing, Allied Health, and Engineering Technology take supporting courses in the Department of Physical Sciences. The department also provides the courses that students in other majors may use to fulfill their general education physical science requirements
