MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY

machineChattanooga State's machine tool technology course will orient students to machine shop safety, basic hand tools, and precision instruments, giving them the opportunity to develop machine shop skills on lathes, vertical milling machines, and surface grinders, and Computer Numeric Controls (CNC) machining skills, including programming and set-up of both CNC machining centers and turning centers. The course covers basic skills, through complex machine shop skills required in today's computer age. Blueprint reading, math skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions are a must.

Career opportunities included are : CNC. Operator, CNC Programmer, Machine Tool Operator, Maintenance Machinist, Manufacturing Machinist, and Tool and Die Maker Apprentice.
