INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICITY

Accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)

The Industrial electricity technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment, including those in motors, transformers, wiring, switches, alarms and programmable logic control systems. Tools of work include voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and other technical test equipment.

Industrial electricity is a broad field of employment. Some specialize in building and installing new electrical equipment, others are repair specialists, and still others do a combination of work.

Graduates of the Industrial Electricity program will be qualified, through on-the-job and classroom training, to enter the work force as a qualified electrician. They will be able to plan, install, troubleshoot and repair commercial and residential electrical systems.

Students learn the wiring of lighting and heating circuits

Career opportunities include Apprentice Electrician, Electrician's Helper, Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Technician, Electric Motor Repairer, Satellite Antenna Installer  and Cable TV Installer.

This competency based program is designed to be completed in one year, with both full-time day and evening classes available.
