Students in the TTC Cosmetology program will receive instruction in all
phases of Cosmetology.
The competencies include:
- personal and shop safety rules
- rules for sanitation and sterilization
- the use of equipment and implements used in the salon

- scalp and hair care
- hair shaping
- finger waving
- hair styling
- permanent waves

- thermal waving
- blow-dry styling
- relaxers, pressing
- thermal straightening
- color
- manicuring and facials

In addition the student will learn about:
- the nature of electricity
- types of current
- safety precaution and practices dealing with electricity
Also:
- introduction to various organs and systems of the body
- how they function as well as the difference organic and inorganic
chemistry
- principles and practices of good selling
- basics of sales psychology
- rules of first aid
All of the skills needed to secure gainful employment in the cosmetology
field will be presented.
The Cosmetology Program is available at:
- Eastgate Town Center site at 5600 Brainerd Rd., Suite B-38
- Chattanooga State West campus located in Kimball, TN
- Grundy County High School
The Cosmetology program is licensed and certified by the Tennessee Board of
Cosmetology. Students must pass a state licensure exam and complete 1500 hours
of instruction in order to become a licensed cosmetologist.
