PRACTICAL NURSING
Day time Practical Nursing is a 1357 clock hour (three semester) diploma program. There are two classes per year beginning in January and August.
Night time Practical Nursing is a 1357 clock hour (five semester) diploma program. There is one class offered every eighteen months. (For next available class call the Practical Nursing office at 423-697-4447.)
The curriculum provides the theoretical knowledge and clinical practice experiences needed for the program graduate to be able to give competent, safe bedside nursing care at the practical nursing level. Class size is limited and students are admitted based on a point system.
Students accepted into the program are required to have a health examination and criminal background check. Any student not complying with this requirement will not be eligible to attend the program. A failed background check will prevent attendance in the program due to clinical facility requirements.
Upon completion of the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to take the license exam for the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
