The National Council of Teachers of English focuses on the advancement of "teaching, research, and student achievement in English language arts at all scholastic levels." TYCA is the Two Year College Association of NCTE and "unites teachers committed to the teaching and study of English in the two-year college, to advancing the profession, and providing a national voice for the two-year college in postsecondary education."
TYCA-SE is the regional Southeast Two-Year College English Association for two-year college teachers of English in "Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia."
TYCAT is the Tennessee branch of TYCA-SE.
These organizations allow Chattanooga State faculty to network with other English teachers across the nation, the region, and the state to share, in an atmosphere of professionalism and camaraderie, ideas, strategies, concerns, and initiatives for better and more effective teaching. Chattanooga State faculty are proud participants in these organizations.
