Courses
In addition to courses in the study and appreciation of music, the Music department offers special topics courses in a variety of subjects, such as MUS 1040 History of Rock and Roll. Classes are also offered in individual and group instruction for both vocal and instrumental students.
Two special new classes are now available to students: Electronic Music I (MUS 2530 01) and Electronic Music II (MUS 2990 01). These hands-on courses are taught in a state of the art electronic music lab and focus on MIDI and how it is used in conjunction with computers and sound devices, electronic keyboards, software programs, and basic recording techniques.
Events and Performances
Students in the music department also perform in a variety of venues. In addition to campus concerts, recitals, plays, and performances, students frequently participate in community music events. The Music and Theater calendar (left) lists events for the academic year.
