Research is often one of the most difficult assignments students face because research calls on students to exercise a variety of skills. Below are resources to assist you with the various phases of research from getting started to writing the finished paper.
LINKS IN THIS PARAGRAPH OPEN IN A SECOND WINDOW: Your best resource for any research you are doing is the Chattanooga State Augusta R. Kolwyck Library. In addition to books and magazines, the library offers students access to a variety of databases and other resources. The reference librarians may have prepared an assignment guide for your teacher's research assignment, or they may have created a research guide specifically for your topic or for the field of study you are researching. Visit the library on campus and online for every research assignment you do.
You may also want to check with your instructor to see if your textbook has online resources for your research paper. Some textbook sites for classes are listed on the Reading & Writing Center Classes page.
In addition to a thorough explanation of the research process, this site includes a comparative citation guide for using APA, Chicago, MLA, and Turabian style manuals.
For more information on searching the Internet effectively, see the Software Support and Internet Help page on the Reading & Writing Center home page.
