Mythology focuses on those stories that cultures tell that reveal how a culture sees itself, its worldview or sense of the world. These myths can be historically verifiable events; popular beliefs or anecdotes; or people, places, or events that are fictional or unverifiable. In any case, these stories generally provide people a sense of identity and purpose.
