INFORMATION SECURITY CERTIFICATE

The Information Security Certificate is geared for the I.T. Professional who wants to enhance and expand their expertise in the area of Information Security. With the increase of networks and web presence of businesses there is a need for highly qualified professionals to be able to protect companies from the constant attacks of computer hackers. However, that doesn’t mean that perspective students who are not currently in the I.T. field are precluded from taking this program. They will be required to take some prerequisite courses to ensure that they will be successful in this area of training. This technical certificate will cover the following areas:

• Fundamentals of Network Security – Analyzing, designing, presenting and implementing security policies for businesses of all sizes
• Firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPN’s) – Design, configure and implement technology to protect the company from outside attacks and securing access to their internal networks
• Operating System Security – Learn on to properly analyze, install and implement processes to ensure that the operating systems are locked down from potential vulnerabilities of attacks
• Wireless Security – Design, configure, install and implement technology and processes on providing secure wireless access to networks
• Computer Security & Penetration Testing – Students will learn on to ensure that networks have appropriate security and learn how to design and implement test to ensure that attacks will be reduce and or eliminated
• Computer Forensics – With the value placed on company data, the need for qualified professionals to be highly trained in the
• Incident and Disaster Recovery – Students will learn how to properly analyze, design and implement a disaster recovery policy and plan to ensure that a business’s data is properly protected in case of a disaster. They will also learn on to establish an Incident policy for proper escalation, documentation, investigation and resolution of security incidents that take place on networks.
