Admissions Procedure

In addition to meeting the requirements for admission to Chattanooga State, a student seeking admission to the Dental Assisting program must also have completed high school or have a GED, and complete the following:

  1. Attend a Dental Assisting information session. Click here for the information session schedule.
  2. Take the appropriate entrance exam (ACT, SAT, or COMPASS) to determine placement. All recommended transitional studies classes must be completed prior to enrolling in the Dental Assisting program, except DSPM 0850, which may be taken concurrently with DAST classes.
  3. Complete the Allied Health Application form
  4. Complete 16-hour pre-clinical observation form
  5. Participate in a personal academic planning session with a program faculty member.

Admission to Dental Assisting in not a selective process. The first applicants to qualify are the first offered admission. Applicants who complete the steps listed above will be offered admission into the next class in which space is available. One class of 36 students is admitted each fall semester.
